Watch out for that WiFi Network!

Since i feel like writing today i'll start posting on another topic i feel is important(unless you have no computer or laptop).

It's a touchy subject so get ready!
WiFi Networks, long time no see!

The subject is that's right, Wi-Fi networks!

Now, what the hell is a problem with Wireless Networks, they're legit Nemanja, what you talking about?!

Most of it is true and that's what i would like to believe myself, would be great, however it's only half-truth.

And half-truths are not 100% correct, and i'd like to know what is that 10% that's false.

What is false is security.

Off to investigate!

How??

Well, simply said i'll give you an example my friend went through which will clarify for you a bit.

The story goes like this:

My friend went on a trip to a hotel abroad(Greece is lovely!).

Greek flag always reminds me of some other flag,hmm...

Of course they(he and his wife) rented out a hotel room and everything was fine. They would go out on a beach and hell maybe went to places i don't know about(then again, why should I...).

Now that sounds like a great story, what in the world is the problem?

The problem is...

His Facebook account got hijacked!

Yeah,it did.

Seems about right!

For the purpose of this topic and blog,i will not show the tools they used to do it,because of obvious reasons, this is not a blackhat blog but a security and education one. :)

So how can you protect your laptop or android from this?

Simply don't connect to suspicious networks!

If some unknown person offers you free WiFi at their home,it would sound suspicious,no?

Don't say i didn't warn you!

As far as hotels and restaurants go, i'd say it's a green light zone, however not completely safe.

As a 100% safety measure, you'd have to use VPNs ( Virtual Private Network),there are a few of free ones that will well cater to your needs for security and anonimity(they mostly allow 300MB per month of traffic,it's well enough for average browsing).

You can even visit blocked sites and say you live in Maroco!

That would be it for this post, stay safe and don't fall into the trap!

Take care and see you next time, keep sending the questions and i'll write on them in the next posts(this was actually asked by a reader so i had to reply, love ya).

Cheers!
